GAP Insurance is available from Northern Ireland Insurance Broker McCarroll McConnell. In Northern Ireland GAP Insurance can be provided to protect the value of your new or used car or van.
The Insurance GAP
Ordinary motor insurance does not protect the real value of your car or van. In the event of a write-off as a result of an accident and/or theft, your comprehensive motor insurance will only pay your car or van’s market value and, in many cases, less than the outstanding balance owed if you have financed the purchase.
GAP Insurance pays the difference between your write-off insurance settlement and the vehicle’s original invoiced cost – or outstanding finance on any type of agreement, whichever is the greater.
GAP Insurance – Northern Ireland

At McCarroll McConnell we have negotiated excellent rates which are proving to be more competitive than those offered in the motor trade industry.

Earlier this month we at McCarroll McConnell Insurance Brokers offered advice for Landlords and property owners in Northern Ireland. Here is the second part of that blog post which we hope will help you to keep your properties safe, secure and in good condition over the winter period.
McCarroll McConnell Insurance Brokers – Landlord Insurance
6. Bleed your radiators
A great way to warm up your property is to bleed the radiators. This releases any trapped air, allowing hot water to fill every part of your radiator and warm the property more efficiently.
7. Get a boiler service
Arrange for your boiler to be serviced every year. As everyone starts to switch on their central heating, the surge in oil consumption can lead to a big increase in boiler breakdowns.
8. Clear out your gutters
In autumn, leaves can collect in gutters and drains, leading to blocks and overflows – so it’s best to clean them regularly.
9. Be wary of theft
If your property is likely to be unoccupied over the Christmas period while students are either returning home or your tenants are taking a long holiday, ensure that you take the following precautions as expensive items on display are an easy target for thieves.
Invest in theft deterrents such as alarms (visible from the exterior of the property). Ensure that the locking mechanisms meet the policy requirements (5 lever mortice locks).
And finally we want to remind you again of our last tip from our earlier blog post entitled “McCarroll McConnell advice for Northern Ireland Landlords this winter” which is – Check your insurance policy.
Make sure that you understand the terms of your landlord insurance policy. Remember that maintenance-related issues tend not to be covered by landlord policies. This means that you need to make sure that your property is fighting fit for winter – both for your own peace of mind, and for that of your tenants.
